Even when results seem so ordinary that they don’t deserve observation—flip a switch, lights come on—we notice when an ordinary choice doesn’t give us an ordinary result. The lightbulb doesn’t come on.
I was going to put up a “filler post” here with no text or content—just, “this is a test”—to make sure everything was working/set up correctly in Medium. But, I thought (and I hope you’ll humor me), everything is a test.
Make a choice. See what happens. Make another.
It’s how we roll every day.
And the test I’m creating with this SHOWOFF project is one about sharing lots of my steps in motion, even the little ones. SHOWOFF is about a space to build, make mistakes, and show off the work. It’s about accountability and community and projects I’m working on and projects I’m doing with others and lots of things that need a home so they can grow. It’s inspired a lot by Austin Kleon and his books, the charter school that I’m helping to build in South Carolina, and the people I love. (Like Gramma Tala sings to Moana, “the people you love will change you. The things you have learned will guide you.” #Disney)
Here’s a little step, then, unhidden. Hide the steps, miss the dance (make the joke, even if it’s corny).
